About Me
Anita specializes in working with eating and body image concerns, along with the emotional and interpersonal issues that often accompany them. She finds that behavioral techniques, such as CBT and mindfulness, can be very helpful in addressing negative body thoughts and harmful eating behaviors. However, it is also beneficial to explore the root of these concerns more deeply. For this kind of work, she uses a psychodynamic approach to discover how our experiences and memories influence our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Anita also has experience working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, and trauma.Anita is a licensed clinical therapist in Maryland. She received her M.A. in Psychology from the City College of New York, where she conducted research on the relationship between disordered eating and depression in women. She then received her Ed.M. and M.A. in Psychological Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University. She also completed a two-year training program at the Center for the Study of Anorexia and Bulimia in New York City, where she trained in psychodynamic and behavioral techniques for treating eating disorders.
